Alan Thomson

Alan Thomson is Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company (ADSSC). Prior to joining ADSSC in 2005, Alan worked in various senior posts with clients, consultants and contractors. He has over 35 years of experience in the water industry working in Scotland, London and Abu  Dhabi and across the drinking water and wastewater sub-sectors.

At ADSSC,  Alan has overseen the development and modernisation of wastewater infrastructure in the Emirate, including four major additional treatment plants and a deep sewer gravity tunnel system (STEP).  STEP will ensure that the Emirate has adequate collection capacity for future growth. A revised master plan for ADSSC was recently completed, which will further help inform the company investment programme for the next 5-10 years.

Alan was recognized in the 2018 New Year honours when he was awarded an MBE for his services to the UK, the global water industry and associated charities.

He is married with two adult daughters. Alan’s interests include golf and keeping fit.
