Biography

Devesh is the CEO of Pani Energy, a University of Victoria spin off company, and has undertaken the core R&D behind Pani’s technologies for several years. Since founding the company in 2017, Devesh has led Pani’s development of Osmotic Energy Storage (OES) and the commercialization of Adaptive Desalination Technology (ADT). Devesh is a mechanical engineer with several publications and patent applications in the field of membrane processes and has been recognized with multiple research and entrepreneurships awards including: BC Clean Energy Award, Coast Capital Entrepreneur of the Year, W.E. Cowie Innovation Award in Engineering and recently, Douglas Magazine did a cover on him calling him one of the most promising young entrepreneurs on Vancouver Island.

Pani is bringing ADT – an advanced reverse-osmosis process which reduces RO’s energy consumption by up to 30% able to reach consumption levels as low as 1.5 kwh/m3 – to market starting in India, truly reducing desalination’s energy boundaries. ADT uses novel plant operational methodologies and intelligent algorithms for process design and control, allowing Pani Energy to upgrade existing RO plants to ADT. The company is excited to expand its operations internationally this year, helping to enable desalination plants worldwide reduce their energy consumption with simple upgrades and quick project paybacks.
