Biography

Ms. Fatma Awale is the Minister in charge of Water and Natural Resources in Mombasa County, Kenya.

She has a Masters in International Relations and an Undergraduate Degree in International Business.

Ms Fatma Awale previously worked for United Nations Development Programme Somalia (UNDP-Somalia). She has served in various Government Boards as a Director. Before her appointment, she was Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Mombasa Water and Sanitation Company. She has also served as Member of the National Anti-Corruption Steering Committee and the Export Promotion Council (EPC).

Ms Fatma Awale is the first female Vice President of Athletics Kenya Federation (AK). She is also the first Kenyan to be elected into the eight-member Women’s Committee of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF).

She believes that every leader should endeavour to provide services effectively and efficiently with no discrimination.
