Sr. de Pierola graduated as an Agricultural Engineer of the National Agrarian University “La Molina”, Lima-Perú in 1976 and is registered to the Engineers Association of Peru No. CIP 1443. He holds a Master’s Degree in Hydraulic Engineering from the National University of Engineering, Lima-Peru awarded in 1976. Between 1981 and 1985 he did his postgraduate studies in Italy (ICTP, Trieste), Spain, Holland (Institute of Hydraulics, Delft) and in Germany (University of Hanover, Institute of Water Resources).
Since 2009, Sr. de Pierola has been an Honorary Professor of the National Agrarian University “La Molina” and Professor of the Postgraduate School of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, National Engineering University. Formerly he has been a Professor of this University and is also a former Associate Professor of the University of San Frames.
Between January and June 1991, Sr. de Pierola was Director of the National Hydraulic Laboratory, Lima, Peru. In 2009 he was decorated with a Distinguished Engineer medal by the Peruvian Engineers Association, Lima. Sr. de Pierola is a member of IAHR, AGU, APIHA, IAHS, current President of APIHA of Peru and President of XVII Latin American Hydraulic Congress since September 2016.
Since 2005, Sr. de Pierola has been a Water Resources Manager for Southern Peru Copper Corp. He is based in the Lima headquarter offices and he mainly works in the high Andean area of southern Peru in the regions of Tacna and Moquegua between 1000 and 4500 meters above sea level.
