Juan Carlos Latorre is currently Director of the Public Companies System (SEP), President of Econssa Chile and Consultant in Project Management and Development. He is also President of ITS Chile Corporation. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Chile and a Masters in Planning and Regional Development from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. From 1984 to 1986 he served as the President of the College of Engineers (Metropolitan Region) and from 1987 to 1989 as the National Counselor of the College. In 1990, he was sworn in as Deputy of the Republic for the first time, a position to which he has been re-elected for different periods including those of 1990-1998, 2005 and 2010-2014. In 1998, he was appointed Vice Minister of Public Works (1998-2003) for the former President Eduardo Frei Ruiz Tagle and in March 2000 was reconfirmed in the position by President Ricardo Lagos.
Mr. Latorre is a member of the Public Works Commission, Transport and Telecommunications, Housing and Town Planning Commission and the Commission of Mining and Energy.
