Biography

Jorge Salas joined Abengoa in 2002 and has held different high-level posts in this company, as Head of the Proposal and Business Development Department, and also leading from the Desalination Department some of the main references of the company at international level, such as the projects developed in Algeria, Skikda and Honaine desalination plants, and the first desalination plant constructed in India, Chennai desalination plant.

Mr Salas is currently Vice President for Water and Energy Business Development of Abengoa, and from this position he has led the contracting of worldwide referenced projects such as the largest reverse osmosis desalination plant of the world, that will have capacity to treat 909,000 m3/d of seawater, in Taweelah power and water generation complex (UAE), or the construction of the largest reverse osmosis desalination plant in Saudi Arabia, with a treatment capacity of 600,000 m3/d of sea water.

Prior to this, he was Project manager at ADASA (Aguas de Barcelona Group) and an Engineer of the Department of Environment in SAINCO. He has a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Seville, and completed postgraduate studies in Environmental Engineering at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Michigan (USA) and Civil and Mechanical Engineering Studies from University of Newcastle upon Tyne (United Kingdom).
