Biography
José Díaz-Caneja is the Managing Director of ACCIONA Agua, ACCIONA Group’s water division. ACCIONA Agua focuses on managing the life cycle of water, providing supply and utility services to several million customers, and develops, designs, constructs and operates drinking water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants and reverse-osmosis desalination plants.
With comprehensive experience in the infrastructure sector in both publicly and privately financed projects, and after having worked in large infrastructure groups in Latam and Spain, Mr. Díaz-Caneja joined ACCIONA Agua’s International Business Development in 2002. In 2007, he left to act as Managing Director for ForoPPP Infraestructuras – a private PPP institution – for a 4-year period, rejoining ACCIONA Agua in 2011 as Middle East and Africa Development Director. He was made Managing Director of the company in January 2014.
Mr. Mr. Díaz-Caneja holds an MSc in Civil Engineering from Madrid Polytechnic University and an MBA from IESE Business School, and has been a professor at Madrid’s Nebrija and Polytechnic Universities. He is currently a member of the EPEC Private Sector Forum.
