Biography

After obtaining a Masters degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Technology at Delft University of Technology, Holterman worked in various management positions at Heineken NV, joined the Norit Group in 1998 as MD of Haffmans BV; and was appointed Chief Growth Officer & and Member of the Executive Board of Directors of Norit NV in 2007. In 2010 Menno was appointed CEO of Norit Clean Process Technologies Holding (successfully acquired by Pentair in May 2011).

In 2012 Menno co-founded “Naesta” dedicated to grow water technology companies, focusing on the water- energy- waste & food nexus. In November 2012 Naesta invested in Nijhuis Water Technology, one of the largest and oldest wastewater treatment companies in the Netherlands. striving to become a leading, innovative and truly global operating (waste)water treatment platform in the years to come. An ambitious growth strategy was successfully implemented, turning Nijhuis Industries into a leading global company in sustainable water use and resource recovery. In 2020 Nijhuis Industries was acquired by Saur to spearhead the expansion of Saur’s industrial water activities by and successfully integrating the acquisitions of Econvert, Unidro, Nortech, Riventa, PWNT, Byosis, Sodai, Flootech, Aqua-Chem and most recently the acquisition of Veolia’s Mobile Water Services into Nijhuis Saur Industries, Saur’s Industrial Water Solutions division.

Today Menno is CEO of Nijhuis Saur Industries providing solid and adaptive solutions for sustainable and resilient water use, energy, and resource recovery for Light and Heavy Industries, Utilities, and Commercial Buildings. NSI today is delivering innovative technologies, engineering and consulting services, in-house manufacturing and R&D and turnkey project execution (including DBFOM), O&M site servies and mobile water solutions. Supported by our #MissionWater and unique Customer for Life approach, industries, utilities, and cities in over 140 countries are supported to secure them water on demand, comply with ‘reduce, remove, reuse and recover, reduce their environmental footprint, lower the life-cycle cost, contribute to the circular economy and a more resilient future by closing the waterloop.
