Biography

In 2014, Mr Wong joined forces with Professor Darren Sun, Distinguished Shimizu Professor at Stanford (USA) & CEE, NTU (Singapore) to found a high tech company with the view of building a strong company in Clean Technology.

 

For 5 years, the company raised nearly $10 million from large MNC and private capital. After A-round funding, he has established a growing presence in Singapore, Indonesia and China by deploying the 3D-printing membranes.  The most recent projects involved a 20 MLD plant in municipal application, and a 2800 m3/day industrial wastewater treatment plant. Moving towards larger scale production capability required engineering design, testing, prototyping. Nanosun will launch into Series B to accelerate product and development and market deployment.

 

An investment banker, he was the Executive Director in the Investment Banking Division for Southeast Asia, Asia ex-Japan at Nomura.  At Nomura he was part of the transaction team for the buyout of 50% stake in the Hyflux Water Trust to Mitsui Corporation, Japan.  He was Managing Director heading the planning function of DBS Group, directing acquisitions, JVs in the Financial Institutions space, and developing organic growth initiatives with commercial, consumer banking, asset management, treasury business units across the key markets. Within DBS, he started in Equity Capital Market Department, working on IPOs and secondary offerings, including refinancing of IPO of Korean shipyard, a silicon ingot manufacturer for solar panel production, construction of large-scale infrastructure projects.

 

Mr Wong read Engineering Science at University of Oxford (UK), and won the Barnett Prize for Engineering and Exhibition Award for First Class Honours at Moderations.  He also took an MBA at MIT Sloan School of Management (USA) and was named Sloan Fellow.
