Biography

Neil Brennan is a passionate and dedicated water industry professional having commenced in the water industry in 1976. Neil’s academic achievements include a Graduate Diploma in Management, a Master’s in Business Leadership and the Oxford Advanced Management Programme. Neil has overseen the implementation of five Public Private Partnership projects across water and wastewater assets totalling approx. $A190M, together with delivering the largest single infrastructure project in regional Victoria during the millennium drought, the Goldfields Super pipe, a project totalling 88Klms of 375mm pipe with a project cost of $A180M.

Neil currently Chairs the Victorian Water Industry’s Intelligent Water Networks Executive group, the Intelligent Water Networks (IWN) Program is a collaboration of 18 Victorian water corporations, and the State Government to trial new and emerging technologies.

The IWN Program is advancing the Victorian water industry by:

• Trialing technologies together as an entire industry.
• Sharing the risks of those trials.
• proactively leading the development of new technologies

Neil is currently a Director of the Board of the Energy and Water Ombudsman Scheme Victoria (EWOV), Board Member of the Institute of Water Administration (IWA) and Chair of the Victorian Water Industry, Intelligent Water Networks Steering Group. Neil was appointed Managing Director of Western Water in June 2012. Prior to his appointment Neil was the Managing Director at Central Highlands Water for 15 years and he has previously held CEO positions at Western Water and Macedon Region Water Authorities. Neil was appointed as Interim Managing Director of Goulburn Murray Water (Australia’s largest Water Irrigation Corporation) for four months in 2016.
